The title is won, long live the fight for the next title.

Having added an unprecedented fifth FIA title and collected the trophy above Dave naturally began to consider his future plans. A major factor in the decision was renewed support from Silverline Tools who valued the response to their first season as headline sponsors and further support from Playstation with their Gran Turismo game. Whilst a step up to Top Fuel had been considered the lure of six championships in a row and beating Michael Schumacher's record was irresistible but so was the lure of Nitromethane, hence the change of motive power to unblown A/Fuel.
